|
|
| I care for my 92-year old mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's four years ago. I record comforting, supportive messages for her on the simplest recorder possible. She wears the recorder as a pendant and plays these brief messages over and over again. (There's only one big button to press.) Doctors and nurses have told me that keeping Mom calm and comfortable is the most important thing I can do. I record messages like, "You've had a good breakfast today, Mary's here with you, and I will be back for dinner." She likes hearing my voice and seems to stay better oriented and less anxious. This has also helped with the problem of repetitive questions - my messages anticipate the questions that are usually on her mind. My mother is in the mild- to moderate- stage of Alzheimers. The recorder is at www.kindreminder.com. Good luck to everyone. |
