| My parents are going to be moving in soon, they both have Dementia, my dad is progressing real fast. I am going to have to leave work to take care of them. I live in Conn and was wondering, is there any goverment funding or financial program or anything like that for those of us who have to leave work to care for our loved ones? |

Im wondering basically the same thing. I live in MASS and live with/care for my husbands 87 year old grandfather. I have no "outside the home" job; and I'm not earning income or putting any money into my SS.
I've been doing this for 4+ years and not sure I want to continue because I'm definietely not doing whats best for my elderly future by not contributing to my social security.
Advice is welcomed. |

I am in serious need of a caregiver site that I can talk to others in my situation. I am in my 40's taking care of my elder mother who is not doing well. Some of the conditions she has is depression, weakness of muscles, no energy, and does not want to get out of bed. My father passed away 5 years ago and she was married to him for many years. She cannot get over him. I have been assisting her for 2 years now, she does not get out of bed except for doctor appts. She refuses to eat, even though I try to feed her. I need some help. I am doing this all on my own. No one else is helping. I am also attending college again for another career.
Please help......
thanks |

Hello, I'm new here too.
I did run across information about the VA that there are benefits through the Veterans Administration for Veterans and surviving spouses. The benefits pay for homebound and for assisted living. I do not know if it pays relatives to look after.
